Opalo Advisory Services provides pro bono educational, mentoring and management advice to a select group of charities and not-for-profit organizations, international insurance guarantee schemes and resolution authorities, international regulators, prudential supervisors and central bank personnel through an association with The Toronto Centre, as well as for small and large businesses.

Paolo (Paul) Petrelli is the Principal of Opalo. He is a retired business executive with over 30 years of experience in the financial services sector.
Most recently, Paul was the CEO of Assuris, the not-for-profit Canadian life and health insurance policyholder compensation corporation established in 1990 and the

Most recently, Paul was the CEO of Assuris, the not-for-profit Canadian life and health insurance policyholder compensation corporation established in 1990 and the expert authority responsible for resolving a failed Canadian life and health insurer. Paul has also held a wide variety of senior leadership roles at a global life insurer, including responsibility for global Compliance, Corporate Development, Corporate Governance, and Canadian Finance. Paul obtained his B.A. (Honours) from the University of Toronto in 1991, his LL.B. from the University of Windsor School of Law and was admitted to Law Society of Upper Canada as a member in 1997. He also obtained a Master of Law degree from the University of Toronto School of Law in 2019, specializing in Innovation, Technology and Law
